A Baseball Swing Is A Very Finely Tuned Instrument. It Is Repetition, And More Repetition, Then A Little More After That. -Reggie Jackson

When considering what Reggie has said about repetition, I like to think of my job as a baseball swing. I do basically the same thing every day, altering myself to the speed or curve of the balls that are thrown at us, trying to lower our error rate each time we work. Here are some of the things that I have to do everyday.

1. kick the vending machine because it is withholding candy
2. exchange a billion dollars for quarters
3. tell someone that they have to keep their dog in the car, and try to assure them that the world isn't ending
4. switch someone out of a room because it supposedly smells like smoke/has funny looking curtains/doesn't like the shower head
5. make up directions for a place i've never heard of in a town i'm new to
6. "please initial by the rate and departure date, fill out vehicle information, and sign. breakfast is from 6-9, pool is open from 8-10, checkout is 11am, there's parking along the front and the back, there are two laundry rooms, a fitness room and a jacuzzi, the wifi is free and unsecured, and i'm down here 24 hours a day to answer any questions."

I'm not going to lie tho. I love my job! It's fun to answer the phone and meet new people. We get TONS of people from different countries in here. This is what i've learned so far.

Germans: super nice, super friendly, lots of questions, little english.
French: nice sometimes, rude sometimes, always need directions everywhere
English: always super rude and in a hurry most of the time
Americans: ask a billion questions and try to get as many discounts as they possibly can. also want to know where the nearest bar is.
Australian: very good looking and tan and buff ;)

Yeah, I love working here, despite all the repetition. And despite the fact that I never get to leave on time!

One of my co-workers is late for the 11:00 shift EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. The angels literally sing when he gets here on time. Last night, he was half an hour late! Half an hour! Haha and as he walks in the first thing he says to me is:
Slow drivers need to get off the road!!
Me (in my head.): right. because a slow driver made you 30 minutes late. it doesn't even take 30 minutes to get anywhere in moab!!
Him: so i'm all like honking and waving and finally they pull over. and then APPARENTLY they were alarmed when i got out of my car and came after them with a crow bar!!!
Me (in my head): hahaha RIGHT. that last bit made your story a LOT more believable.
Me (in real life): uhhuh. i'm going home.

I love how outrageous his lie got. I wish he could just..ya know..say "sorry i'm late. here's some icecream i brought you." or something along those lines. :)

luckily, when there isn't someone to help, I get a LOT of free time! So i'm crocheting a baby blanket! I often get asked when the baby is due. hahaha as if ONLY expecting mothers would crochet a blanket. I also read! It's so great here at Moab Valley Inn.

I've Got A Theory That If You Give 100 % All Of The Time, Somehow Things Will Work Out In The End. -Larry Bird

Can you believe it? Summer is almost half over, and I feel as if it's just barely started!! Update time. I am still living with Leo's family. Haha still trying to find a way out of his house and into my own place. Probably won't happen, but I do maybe have a house-sitting gig lined up! I am LOVING working at Moab Valley Inn. It's SOOO much fun. It's a lot of hard work, and summer doesn't seem that fun when I have to work five nights a week, but it's really worth it, and I really love it. I know that I am choosing the right major now! And, the great thing is, on days that I have off I get to do fun things!! Here are some pictures of the things I've done so far.

We went on a little jetboat trip up the Colorado River with Canyonlands by Night! It was a lot of fun and the food was SOOOO GOOD!!! The river is really high right now so it was really awesome to be able to float on it. I also discovered that tour guides make up things! A couple tourists caught onto the fact that when Leo would start laughing, that meant that the story that the tour guide was feeding them was not true. Haha. Leo really got a kick out of the history of Moab as told by our jetboat man. :) It was still a lot of fun!!

Sometimes we like to cruise around on a motorcycle!! Just kidding! This is our buddy Ryan's bike. When Leo and I want to cruise around, we drive a sissy little scooter with orange flowers. Leo loves to make me laugh by talking in a gay voice when riding the scooter. Ha ha ha seriously tho, we look like the biggest losers. But it's so fun! I'll have to get a picture of the scooter to put on here.

Our singles ward has a softball team. I admit that I don't really like to play, but thats alright because there are millions of singles that want to! Including my sweetheart! This last game, the singles branch killed the other team. Ry-ry and I watched the game. Leo played. I got that awesome picture of him running home!

Leo got a job up at Dead Horse Point at this little coffee shop called the Pony Expresso. Last week I went up and surprised him at the shop and we went and visited the point together when he got off. I guess he wasn't really surprised that I was there tho...I thought I was very nonchalant when I asked him what the busiest time of day was at the shop. He knew I was going to come!! Oh well..He was happy to see me anyways.

These last two pictures were taken by this Indian guy, like, from India. He was kind of a weirdo tho! He wanted us to pose looking off into the distance. Obviously we didn't listen to that. Then when we took his picture he was looking off into the distance and he and his wife had NO EXPRESSION on their faces. I guess those Indians like to make vacations look boring!! HAHA!

Right outside of town there is this humongous sand hill. You can climb up it and just roll down and it's so fun! However, you do get sand in every nook and cranny. It's been like four days and I am still picking sand out of my ears. :)

It's been a fun summer so far. There are lots of things for Leo and I to do...we made a list!! I can name a few.
. go to left hand
.go skinny dipping
.go camping
.tiedye

We've got a loooong way to go to complete our list. :)

ooo. Here's a juicy story!! My drivers license is on probation! well... I guess that I am on probation. I am just a speed demon, I guess. I had to go visit with someone, and I was really nervous. Luckily, she was way nice. My mom was much scarier! :)
peace out!

Ah, Summer, What Power You Have To Make Us Suffer And Like It. -Russel Baker

Well, this summer is my very first summer from home! I am currently in my boyfriend Leonard Francis's living room, on the couch, just blogging away! I'm stuck here, for the time being, because my aunt and cousins decided that I couldn't stay at their houses over the summer after all. I am in desperate search of my own apartment at a reasonable price (pretty much impossible here.) So for now, I'm just chilling at Leo's and working at the Moab Valley Inn. I'm a front desk clerk. I'm sure I'll have adventures to tell, because very interesting people come to Moab. :)

I am updating this blog with some pictures from the last semester. :) This is our trip to St. George to Red Cliffs canyon.

me: oo. nice muscles.
leo: you like? here let me flex em!
megan: wow! they are like THIS big!!
